Tilda doll

the doll in process

This week my brain was refusing to do homework, every time I  tried to do my art homework I seemed to get carried away and be doing my own project and this doll is a result of that! I made her using a kit that helps you create your own Tilda doll, the kit had been lying around for about two years in my room so this week I decided to put it to good use. And I'm very glad I did! However I must admit at first I felt a little edgy about using instructions as I don't feel creative doing it because I feel like I am copying off someone elses creativity. But this time I didn't feel like that, my attitude was completely different, I wanted to use instructions as not only would I feel challenged (because it is so different to me), it also would be a good start to using instructions for when I get into dress making (which hopefully will be in 2 weeks time). However when I was making the doll I did feel a little let down that the instructions were so vague but I guess that's not a bad thing as it made it more challenging and made me have to still use my creativity.

BUT, and its a big but, what will I call my doll ????!!!! PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Ipad and Iphone cases

(My sister doing revision in the background)

So here we have a great example of what I get up to when I'm board. It was one of those days were I couldn't think of anything to do (or refusing to do homework on the weekend) so I decided to make an ipad case. It started of by me managing to dig my dads old levis out of the material box and then I dissected the jeans by picking out the labels and zip. After that i had to decide where abouts I wanted to cut up the jeans. Eventually I decided on a pocket so that i could have a pocket in the final outcome. And from there i made it up as I went along really!

After i made the ipad case i decided to make my sister an iphone case for her birthday. Meaning that i recycled twice!

Henna!

Admittedly I have not posted anything for a while but it wasn't my fault-technical problems!!!

At around the end of summer last year I was in Camden Lock market were I brought a tube of henna.Thankfully it managed not to explode in the bag on the way home and so when I got home I did some henna on mine,my sister and my mum.

At the time I was studying Indian culture and patterns. I was blown away by the beautiful detail in all the Indian patterns but especially henna tattoos. In particular I loved how flowing and constant the flower patterns were, so I decided to use that as my inspiration for my mum's henna which came from her toe to around the her ankle on the other leg.
My sisters henna however was inspired by a picture I found on the web. The picture had petals of a flower similar to the leaf-type-things on the tree (on my sisters hand). I included the birds as I knew it was important to use symbolism in my piece. (Birds symbolising freedom).

Perfect little ball-ball made by a perfect little person!

What I loved most about making this with my little cousin is that only littlens can make this. because firstly you have to have little hands so you  can make the bodies of the snowmen all fit on the ball-ball and I think that only kids style of painting suits the ball-ball the best.

What we did first was I painted her hand she than held the ball in her hand- Cupping it so the paint went every where needed. She then did it again on the other side so there was plenty of snowmen on the ball-ball.
Next I helped her paint the scarves, hats and faces and then we were done!

Simple as that!

Parent's Christmas present !

So it Christmas eve and I wanted to be a perfect sister and daughter by making everyone something for Christmas. Well These robins are a product of this conundrum of mine!

I started by rooting round for an old picture frame, determined not to be spending any more on Christmas presents. After that I painted The border bit and wrote on it. Afterwards I then Glued some lucky-find fabric on a foam board and then made the robins. . .

In order to make these robins all you need is a felting needle, brown felt and fibres. Its so simple and easy to do with a pretty good looking Set of robins at the end of it. All you basically do is stab or prod- depending how angry your feeling  on the chosen fibres until you think there all blended and mixed well.

One of the cristsims for this is that really the birds should having been kissing each other with the picture landscape not portrait. Oh-well at least my parents got something by Christmas day!

Also I have started to realize that anything I make for my parents is always animal themed. Next time my challenge is to not!

Elephant Jewellery

So as you might already know I have started jewellery making. And as you also might already know I love elephants so combined the two together and look what you got.
In order to make these it meant lots of cutting out. meaning lots of broken saw blades in my case. And a little bit of silver soldering.

I first started off by doing my little scribbly sketches and then I went onto choosing one and cutting it out as a template were I cut around, using a saw I cant remember the name of.
Then after I had cut out the silver I used a hammer to make the circle-y texture. following that I cut out the grass then I filed and emeryed it down. After that I made the pin for the back but knowing me I cant really remember how I made that!

p.s. I haven't done barely any post for a while and though I would say its my fault I say its actually 40% mine and 60% my school so I blame it one them, as I've had a lot of homework at the moment!

Also Don't be afraid to follow me on Google+  and see how my blog progresses.
It would be so great to get some followers as I have almost been a blogger for a year now so it would be nice to get some feed back.

Thank you xxx
and
hope you like my little elephants

An extra large picture for and extra important post!

There are two main reasons as to why I want to raise money for charity...

1) I am completely in awe of Martha Payne and her blog "NeverSeconds". At a young age she raised a lot of money for a lot of people in Malawi! She a better Martha than I am for sure!

2) I would love to honour a friend who passed away because of cancer so I want to raise money for cancer victims!

I also bet you will be wondering why a strange owl is in the picture. This is because Posy (named by one of the viewers on this blog later this year) will be with me at each fundraising thing I do! so might appear in quite a few pictures on this blog.

Hopefully by around this time next year if I could raise lets say... £1,000. So lets see how it goes!

It is very Important people give me some advice as to how I go round doing this so please comment!
